October 1st
I will email authors the Word doc template. Sign up here to be notified on October 1st every year.
This template will ask for your 3 favorite books that you read between October 1st of the previous year and September 30th of the current year (no matter when that book was published). Here is an explanation for why I am making the "best books of the year" dates between October 1st of the previous year and September 30th of the current year.
October 20th
We need the author's submissions back by October 20th if they want to be part of the November 1st unveiling of the most-read books of the year.
Why? There is a lot of work on our end to set everything up, create the books in our database, and edit everything. This is a big surge of work, and we don't know how many submissions we can do in this period. This is a brand new program, and we are about to learn :).
What if I can't turn it in by October 20th? Or would you like to do it later in the year?
Don't worry; we will continue to publish them through December 31st. And your list goes into the same promotion system as soon as it is published. :).
November 1st
We will unveil the top picks for the most-read books of the year (both books read in that year and books read and published in that year).
I am working to make this a big media event that celebrates books, authors, and reading! We try to do most of the marketing for this between November 25th and December 21st as that is the biggest period of book buying all year.
November, December, and January
I do a lot of promotion and marketing in these months, so it works best if you can get your list back to me as soon as possible as a lot of readers visit during this period.
Summer...
This is the last day we will take submissions for your 3 favorite reads made between October 1st of the previous year and September 30th of the current year.
